Artist Statement

My paintings capture the everyday scenes in my surroundings. I became drawn to this subject matter during a time of grief, where I discovered how quickly my own attachments to places and objects can change, and how temporary my surroundings are. At present, I find my subject matter in everyday objects, interiors, and portraiture. My thoughts about the past and present lead to an ongoing conversation with the objects. It’s an exploration of intimacy, grief, memory, and longing. I prefer to find the subject matter naturally, in a moment that feels pure and fleeting, not planned and arranged. It’s become most important to capture these fleeting moments within my everyday life with careful attention to color and reflected light.

Bio 

Hannah Pacitti (b. 2000) is a Philadelphia-based painter whose work explores still life and portraiture. She received her BFA in Painting from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in 2023.
